PB/Vision for DOS

PB/Vision screen shot

Add multiple, mouseable windows to your DOS programs with ease. Give your programs that Windows graphical look and feel without all the overhead.

PB/Vision for DOS allows programmers to add multiple windows with menus and mouse support, Common Dialogs for File Open, Print, Search/Replace, Calculator, Pen Color, Palette and others to your programs. Using the PB/Workshop Visual Designer, you can also design data entry screens with edit controls, radio buttons and more. All with the graphical look and feel of Microsoft Windows, but the blazing speed and low overhead of text mode. Users will swear it's graphics!

PB/Vision uses "font remapping" which gives your program a "graphical" look and feel similar to Windows. You can "grab" any window and move it around the screen or resize it with your mouse. And each window can contain more data than can fit on the visible screen. Just use the scroll bars to scroll the text inside any window. The complete PB/Vision user interface is mouseable. That means you can use the graphical mouse arrow to press buttons, grab windows or scroll bars, make menu selections and more. You can even assign your own events to clicks and double-clicks.

PB/Workshop Visual Designer The PB/Workshop Visual Designer, a development environment and design program that allows quick design and implementation of complex data entry forms (with support for DBF records and files), pulldown & popup menus, status bars, and color palettes. Once the programmer has designed all or part of an interface, PB/Workshop can then generate the entire program source (fully commented) or selected code fragments. Generated programs can be compiled immediately for quick testing.

Data entered into a form is automatically placed into user-defined TYPE variables so there is no need for you to perform an data conversion whatsoever. Standard data entry controls include masked text fields, command buttons, option buttons, check boxes, scrolling lists, scroll bars, a 4-megabyte text editor (only 8k of overhead), spreadsheet-style grid button, spin buttons, and more. All button operations are fully automatic and there is no need to write button management code.

Make it easier for your users to find the information they need by adding a fully context-sensitive hypertext help system. Use your favorite text editor to create the source files and our help compiler to compress and convert them into distributable .HLP files. Simply add hyperlinks in your help source to create contents tables and jumps to other help pages.

PB/Vision is entirely event driven. That means you can concentrate on making your programs look good and let our event driver do the rest. We handle buttons, menus, scroll bars, and all of the other objects for you. You just write the code that operates when the button or other object is pressed.

Other features include routines to read/write and create dBase III compatible .DBF files, .INI file management, command line parsing, low-level keyboard, file and video access, and over 400 EGA/VGA text fonts with a complete font librarian.
