Virus irritant.

Besides being there.

Because of this article, http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/...est=latestnews , I decided to run a full scan on my computer. Before, it was just partial scans.

A couple of baddies popped up: Java/blacole.em and Java/blacole.eo.

Went ahead and fixed the problem and Google'd them to find out what they are. Basically, all that came up with is that they are baddies but no further information was available. Just couldn't find any technical information anywhere.

Anybody know why not? Know where I can find details on any/all viruses?

3 seconds on Google...

http://www.microsoft.com/security/po...e=Java/Blacole

Be aware viruses are named different things by different AV vendors so searching for a specific name many times will limit you to the specific AV vendor that named it. Sadly this is no one master name list and therefore master description list.

Upload the file in question to http://www.virustotal.com. The results page then returns also the different names for the malware for those engines that are able to identify your malware.

That's not a master list, but at least it provides some alternative names, which one might use for further investigation.

Good point Knuth, although in this case I think the virus was already cleaned so all he had was a name.
